Stained Glass Stories
Question: What physical feature of your church building tells stories?
Answer: Your stained glass windows, of course!
While the scriptural stories of our church were first recorded years ago, our story as the people of God continues. I've created a fun project that conveys this - I've made "stained glass" images of contemporary pictures of church members! I've used this as part of a building-focused capital campaign, and recently during a conference where I was talking about digital ministry.
Basically, you take a picture of an actual window frame in your church and cut out the stained glass part, leaving you with a frame. You then take photos of whatever people or activity you wish to feature, and pull those photos into the Prisma app (available on iOs or Android) and use the Mosaic filter (although you can certainly play with other filters). In Photoshop, you can layer the frame and the "stained glass" image. Voila! You've told a contemporary story in stained glass!
Although you can print your image on any color printer, we purchased a little Canon 'Selphy' printer which prints glossy 4x6 images and gave them to people. We used these to promote our company - Membership Vision - but you could do this a a VBS memento!
